What Is The CSOL List in Australia?
The Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL) is an Australian Government list of occupations that are considered in demand and eligible for certain skilled visa programs.
What It’s Used For
The CSOL is used to support:
- Employer‑sponsored skilled visas
- Core Skills Pathway under Australia’s migration system
- Workforce planning for skills shortages
Which Visas Does CSOL Apply To?
The CSOL only applies to:
- Temporary Skill Shortage visa (subclass 482)
(Core Skills stream) - Employer Nomination Scheme visa (subclass 186)
(Core Skills pathway – Direct Entry)
CSOL Helps Determine:
- Which occupations are eligible
- Who employers can sponsor
- Which migrants may qualify for skilled visas
How It Fits Into The Visa System
The CSOL is intended to replace or streamline older occupation lists, such as:
- Medium and Long‑term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL)
- Short‑term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL)
- Regional Occupation List (ROL)
Who Manages It?
- Australian Department of Home Affairs
- Developed with labour‑market advice (e.g., Jobs and Skills Australia)
